Just started to read James without all the chapter & verse numbers and headings. Remembered that the bible is filled with precious promises which God will bring to pass. Yes, it does require action on our part. Caught a few of them on first reading.
1. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.
2. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
3. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
4. Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.
