heartbeat

Phil1
21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 22 But if I am to live on in the flesh, this will mean fruitful labor for me; and I do not know which to choose. 23 But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better; 24 yet to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sake. 25 Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy in the faith, 26 so that your proud confidence in me may abound in Christ Jesus through my coming to you again. 27 Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; 28 in no way alarmed by your opponents--which is a sign of destruction for them, but of salvation for you, and that too, from God.

2:5-11
I have heard many preach on this passage before. Way back to the days of Pastor Huang, in the early days when i first attended BoB. Sermons, sharings with others, sharing from others, books, etc. This passage gets me everytime. The more I meditate on it, the more deafening it gets. A kind of deafening silence. I just feel that when this passage is read, all in the created world must come to a standstill and hear this passage being read. All ought to lay silent. All ought to be ashamed. One day, all will worship.
But before that day, this passage demands a response (which I believe, is captured in v5). Goosebumps and tingles down your spine. All is meaningless without response. Without obedience. Without loving obedience, the hearer is proved to be faithless. Without obedience, we will become professional thinkers. Idealists, Philosophers, Theorists. Are there not enough of such men already, on this earth? We are not saved to continue being weak, constantly feeding on these feel-good pills. Now, hear and here's the time for obedience. Strengthen these feeble hands and knees. Stand up, and face the daily sacrifice.
