No excuses for the pursuit of holiness

Sometimes, we would blame the circumstances which we were brought up in, for who we are today.
Especially those circumstances which we were helplessly subjected to.

It is not wrong (good in fact) to understand how our past shapes present character but it's a mistake to use it as an excuse to sin, saying "It's difficult to change. That's just the way I am."

Let's forget the past and look ahead to the present!
What we were and what we used to be cannot be changed
so stop living in the shadows of our past.

Philippians 3

13Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
