They say keep your eyes open before marriage and have them half-closed when you're in it.
I say keep your eyes shut (half-closed if you want) before marriage and fully open when you're in it.
(Tell me if you know why. I need friends like you.)

Do you mean you'll only be able to truly know your partner when you're in the marriage?
haha nope.
The 1st quote refers to people who choose their spouse by their looks. When they're in marriage, they may then realise their spouse's true self is not as ideal as they imagined. That's when you keep your eyes closed about the relationship.
By keeping eyes closed before marriage, I refer to not committing adultery with your eyes as well as not choosing your spouse just by their looks. Only then will you be able to make a good and fair choice with God's wisdom, without being affected by appearances.
Then, you'll be able to fully enjoy the goodness of a loving relationship with your spouse (without always having to ignore unpleasant happenings) "with your eyes open". haha
