I set my sight on peace and purity.
Yet the world shouts at my ear and sets traps for my eyes.
I wanted to love my brothers and sisters,
Yet am worried I would cross the line.
When I finally was convinced,
this season is singleness and service
Yet mum says home is a hotel i see.
For I love many things under the sun,
But I deny myself, to be His son.
I tried my hands at bowling.
Though I had reached 124, I fear it will be the gutter-count.
I positioned myself for pool,
And hit "all the colours-combined" into one pocket.
Stargazing seemed a healthy hobby,
Yet other habits followed.
Among the fish, salmon I like,
Yet scientists found mercury, mercury inside.
Among the beans, there's none like coffee.
It keeps me awake, yet makes me fall asleep.
I play I eat.
O I play and I eat to my heart's content.
But to this there's no end.
I play away my time and devour the notes till the leather,
Surprised that there's even emptiness left.
And so I desert my old ways and
with a bitter laugh,
I cheer the wisdom of Solomon.
All this is chasing after the wind.
